Combining People or Objects From Other Photos In this example, not only is a vintage photo restored, but a face from another photo is used to replace the faded face in the photo to be restored. This antique picture of a minister holding his Bible had stains, spots, and creases and an overall washed-out look from age. The face, especially, was faded. The same man is in the middle picture. To merge the photos his face from the middle picture was used to replace his face in the Before picture. This is what is referred to as Head Swapping. (It didn't matter that one photo is black and white and one is a sepia color, because the finished photograph will be entirely colorized in a sepia tone.) The shadow on the ground of the original photographer was removed, and the man's left leg was reconstructed by using the image of his other leg. After the stains and creases were removed, the sepia tone was re-applied to the finished restored photo. |
